TEMPO.CO, Bantul - Bantul Tourism and Culture Agency said that it has relied on a number of tourist villages to attract foreign tourists.
"If we want to attract foreign tourists, we can do it by promoting tourist villages. So far, most of the visitors are from abroad. Therefore, developing tourist villages is also our priority,” said Head of Bantul Tourism and Culture Agency Bambang Legowo in Bantul on Saturday.
Bambang added that Bantul has 75 villages and 36 of them have now become tourist villages due to their own potentials and attractions.
Independent tourist villages that have so far been visited by international tourists are among others Kebonagung village, Wukirsari Imogiri villlage, Tembi Sewon village, as well as Krebet Pajangan village known as the center of wooden batik.
"We will also assist the promotion of those tourist villages so that we can achieve our main goal, that is the tourists can make those villages as their number one choice (when they travel) because they can enjoy staying in the villages and this is suitable for tourists who want to find serenity,” he added.
He also urged providers of those tourist villages to improve their services by providing decent home stays for foreign tourists.
