Mulawarman Military Command to Send 500 Troops to Sudan

TEMPO.CO , Jakarta - Mulawarman Military District Command is set to deploy 500 personnel to Sudan next March. "The troops will join the United Nations Peace Corps in Sudan," said Spokesman, Col. Andi Gunawan.
The troops sent will be divided in two units, namely the Peace Keeping Operation (PKO) and the Peace Making Operation (PMO).
Andi added that the troops will be deployed for a year mission. The troops will join and then replace fellow Indonesian troops in the peace corps.
Indonesia has been a solid contributor for UN Peace mission in Sudan, as well as in other countries.
