TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI) event held at the Jakarta International Expo (JIExpo) in Kemayoran recorded a total transaction value of US$909.31 million. Around US$857.37 million of the total value consists of goods purchase transaction while the remaining US$51.94 million was geenrated from the services sector. "Product transaction increased by 5.29 percent compared to last year," said Nus Nuzulia, Director General of National Export Development on Wednesday, November 18, 2015.

Interestingly, according to Nus, some of the product transactions were made by countries that are not Indonesia's main trade market. The Trade Ministry recorded that some of the big spenders during the event include, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates and Turkey. "Buyers in TEI 2015 are dominated by non-traditional countries. This shows that market diversification policy launched by the government has produced results," said Nus.

Nus said that textile products is one of the highly demanded product in the TEI with a total transaction value of US$154.05 million, or equals to 17.96 percent from the total product transaction value. Other highly demanded products include furniture (US$116.26 million, or equals to 13.56 percent) and processed food (US$107.99 million or equals to 12.59 percent).

Meanwhile, based on data from the Agency for the Placement and Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (BNP2TKI), the US$51.04 million generated in the TEI originated from the plantation sector (53.82 percent); the manufacturing sector (23.93 percent), the construction sector (20.22 percent), and the agriculture and tourism sector (1.37 percent).
