Palm Oil Global Needs to Reach 20 Million Tons in 2050

TEMPO.CO , Jakarta - The need for global palm oil in the next 35 years is estimated to reach 20 million ton per year with the assumption of global population reaching 9.6 billion people.
President Director of Palm Oil Plantation Fund Manager Board (BPDPS) Bayu Krishnamurti said the need for palm oil will be met considering that the need for palm oil plantation is only 52 million hectares.
For the record, Europe is the biggest market for Indonesia’s palm oil. In 2014, Indonesian palm oil market in Europe reached around 3.09 million tons with the main entries through the Netherlands and Italy.
Indonesia is the third biggest palm oil exporter to Europe after India (3.87 million tons) and China (3.2 million tons).
