TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian women’s beach volleyball team (Putu Dini Jasita Utami/Dhita Juliana) secured gold medal in Asia-Pacific Beach Volleyball Tournament by taking down Khazakstan’s team 2-1 (21-15, 10-21, 15-10) in final at Jakabaring Stadium, Palembang, on Saturday, October 17.
One member of the Indonesian team, Putu Dini, was also crowned as the best female player along with Dmitry Yakovlev for best male player category.
The host country’s team had developed their game since the first set by launching shooting accurately onto the corner of the court. Kazakhtan’s team tried to catch up but Dhita’s powerful smashes kept their distance.
The second set went well for the Kazakhtans as they managed to overturn the score, but the Indonesians finally wrap the third set with a win.
Chairman of Beach Volleyball division of the Indonesian Volley Federation (PBVSI), Slamet Mulyanto said the success is important for the team to qualify for the next Olympic in June 2016.
