TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Commission X of the parliament is currently discussing to host MotoGP 2017 race. "We have maintained intensive communication with Tinton Soeprapto. However, the decision depends on the hearing between the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Commission X of the House," said Gatot S. Dewa Broto from the Ministry on Tuesday, September 22.

He said that Rp 4 trillion of new initiative is proposed by the ministry for 2016/2017 fiscal year. The budget covers Rp 200 billion renovation plan for Sentul Circuit.

"MotoGP is our main program. It is a single event and it is time for Indonesia to host it," said Gatot. Moreover, he said that MotoGP can promote tourism due to its sports and tourism concept.

"We cannot start with F1, but we can begin now (with MotoGP)," he said.

Previously, manager of Sentul International Circuit, Tinton Soeprapto, said that he supports Indonesia for hosting MotoGP. "Now we wait confirmation from the government,” he said. “We expect that the Letter of Intent (LOI) is finished this week."
