TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Chief of Police Commissioner General Badrodin Haiti said that removing Commissioner Budi Waseso from his post as the Head of Crime Department can only be done by the recommendation of Higher Rank Board (Wanjakti). Badrodin’s statement came following rumor that Budi Waseso will be removed from position as he is deemed to interfere economic growth.

"It depends on Wanjakti," said Badrodin on Wednesday, September 2. Nevertheless, Badrodin claimed that there is no plan to replace Budi Waseso.

Previously, Budi Waseso denied that he had been removed from post and that he had not received such information. "At the very least, the chief of police will summon and inform me," he said.

Budi Waseso was made as Head of Crime Department on Monday, January 19, 2015, replacing Commissioner General Suhardi Alius. During his 7-month stint, Budi Waseso has made a number of headlines, the most notable being the clash between the police and the Corruption Eradication Commission.
