Indonesia Participates in International Furniture Fair in Germany

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian furniture business owners participated in the International furniture fair SPOGA+GAFA in Koeln, Germany, on August 30 – September 1, 2015.


Fattah Hardiwinangun, the second secretary of the information, social and culture at the Indonesian Embassy in Berlin, told Antara in London on Wednesday, September 2, 2015, that the Indonesia’s participation in the SPOGA affair was aimed at maintaining Indonesia’s market share in Germany and Europe.


Fattah revealed that a total of 29 Indonesian furniture companies participated in the international fair facilitated by the Trade Ministry’s Directorate General of National Export Development and the Indonesian Embassy to Germany.


Around 2,000 companies from 60 countries participated at the fair focusing on the gardening and outdoor activity products.


Indonesian Embassy’s trade attaché Lita Gustina viewed he SPOGA-GAFA fair as the barometer of gardening and outdoor activity products, not only in Germany but also in Europe.


Taufik Gani, chairman of the Indonesian Furniture Entrepreneurs Association (Asmindo), said that the depreciation of rupiah against the US Dollar was a good opportunity to boost production and provide interesting offers.


According to Taufik, although the export volume decreased, the value remained the same. Taufik added that the government must continue supporting promotions at international fairs.
