TEMPO.CO , Jakarta - A total of 47 cities and regencies in border areas will be able to enjoy electricity by mid-August.
Jarman, director general of electricity of the ministry of energy and mineral resources, said the government is committed to build power plants and distribution networks in 47 of Indonesia's outermost regions or border areas.
He said constructors have completed building the facilities in 43 of the 47 locations. "Hopefully the rest will be completed in a few days," he said on Sunday, August 9.
The inauguration of the power plants operation in the 47 locations will be conducted by the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and the Minister of Energy on August 20 in Saumlaki, Maluku.
The power project, Jarman said, is expected to provide electricity for 34,178 customers living in outlying or border areas.
