TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Subandi, a politican from Wonogiri, Central Java, said on Thursday, July 30, 2015 that he will file a lawsuit against Democratic Party chairman and the party’s executive board for issuing two recommendation letters for regional head candidates.
According to Subandi, he planned to run as a deputy regent candidate based on recommendation from a coalition consisting of the National Mandate Party (PAN), the Democratic Party, the Great Indonesia Movement Party (Gerindra), the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) and the National Awakening Party (PKB).
However, Subandi was shocked knowing that the Democratic Party had issued another letter for another candidate. As a result, Yuli-Subandi pair would not be able to run as regent and deputy regent candidates via the three-party coalition.
Subandi admitted that he had never received a letter from the party to revoke the recommendation. Subandi said that the recommendation letter was signed by the party’s chairman Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.
Nearing the registration deadline, Subandi claimed that he had gained recommendation letters from three parties, namely PAN, the Democratic Party and the PKB, to run as a deputy regent candidate with Yuli Handoko.
“All recommendation letters in my possession were signed and sealed by chairmen of the parties,” he said.
Subandi explained that his move was to teach the Democratic Party a lesson to respect the political ethics. To this date, the Democratic Party has not provide explanation about the issue.
