Gov't to Fast Track Construction of Lampung-Palembang Tollway

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-owned Enterprises Minister Rini M Soemarno said that the construction of the tollway between Lampung and Palembang should be accelerated to minimize congestion between the two cities.
Rini said to the press after a meeting about the acceleration of infrastructure project construction in Palembang on Wednesday, July 29, 2015, that the construction should be completed before the 2018 Asian Games.
The tollway is to be built with Lampung and Palembang as its' starting points, before it eventually connects near the provincial border in Pematang Panggang.
Rini also said that her Ministry has begun talks with the Ministry of Public Works and Housing to kickstart the construction of the project, and she calls on both provincial government to do whatever they can to help fast-track the program - especially by aiding the central government in the land acquisition process.
The Governor of South Sumatra is known to have suggested that the toll road should be built through fields and orchards - as opposed to crowded areas - to make land acquisition easier to complete.
