Jakarta Deputy Governor Djarot Saiful Hidayat said the dredging work of rivers, reservoirs, and water channels is carried out as an anticipation strategy of flood threat during rainy season.

“Dry season is the right time to conduct dredging optimally. It must be done deeply to accommodate more water ,” he said, on the sidelines of City Spatial and Urbanization Coordination Meeting in West Jakarta Mayor Office, Tuesday (7/28).

Djarot furthered Jakarta Water Management Department is going to send all heavy equipments to conduct dredging in the upcoming August. “It aims to deepen the capacity of macro and micro water channels in the five regions of the capital, "he said.

Former of Blitar Mayor also instructed all mayors to build a biopic holes in prone-flood areas. “Biopori holes construction is the right way to minimize flood,” he disclosed.
