BPJS Kesehatan Raises PBI Premium to Rp23,000

Iuran BPJS Kesehatan Diusulkan Naik 43 Persen
TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The government has decided on a premium hike for the Healthcare and Social Services Agency's (BPJS Kesehatan) National Health Insurance (JKN) program.
The premium paid by low-income participants—also known as contribution assistance recipients (PBI)—will be raised from the current Rp19,225 per person per month to Rp23,000 per month.
The hike will take effect next year.
The hike was decided after BPJS Kesehatan suffered from deficits as premium income continued to be lower than the claims paid. Last year, the agency suffered a Rp3.3 trillion deficit.
President Joko Widodo on July 2 has signed a government regulation (PP) that injects the BPJS Kesehatan with Rp3.46 trillion of capital participation.
Health Minister Nila Moeloek said the capital injection will be used to fund the agency's operations, including raising the premium for PBI participants.
