TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Agency for the Assessment and Application Technology (BPPT) located in the Center of Science and Technology Research (Puspiptek) in Serpong, South Tangerang, has emission test facility for luxury cars.
“All famous types of luxury cars that will be marketed in Southeast Asia undergo emission test with Euro-2 standard in two countries, Thailand and Indonesia,” said Rizqon, head of the Propulsion and Motor Thermodynamics Center (BTMP), on Tuesday.
Rizqon said he will build an emission place for electric vehicles so that all electric vehicles in Indonesia are feasible to use for technological development in electric cars.
Research and Technology and Higher Education Minister Muhammad Nasir said the emission test facility has been available for around two months in BPPT. Cars that fail the emission test will be not be sold.
“Luxury cars usually re-take the emission test if they fail the test,” said Nasir.
Based on Tempo’s observation, white Mercedes Benz type SL 400 was seen undergoing emission test in BTMP laboratory.
