TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Democrat Party has set a target to achieve 30 percent of votes in the upcoming simultaneous regional head elections, according to party’s secretary general Hinca Panjaitan.
“The target is mandated by the [party’s] congress. We are optimistic in achieving or even surpassing the target,” Hinca said on the sidelines of the national leaders’ meeting at the Jakarta Convention Center on Saturday, July 4, 2015.
The Democratic Party’s supporters have concentrated in North Sumatera, Bengkulu, Riau Island, Lampung and several areas in Java. Therefore, Hinca said, the target to achieve 30 percent of votes from 269 electoral districts would be feasible.
Earlier, the Democratic Party held a national leaders’ meeting with several important agendas, including the inauguration of the new executive boards appointed in the 4th national congress in Surabaya, and consolidation ahead of the regional heads elections.
The meeting has been scheduled to last for two days until July 5, 2015, attended by the party’s central executive boards, the Democratic Party Faction at the House of Representatives, the regional representative executive board and heads of the party’s regional branches.
