TEMPO.CO, Pangkalpinang - Bangka Belitung Governor Rustam Effendi bans government officials from bringing official cars for homecoming although the Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform Minister Yuddy Chrisnandi has granted permission.
The ban applies if the official car is taken outside of Bangka Island. “If still within the area of Bangka Island, I don’t think that’s a problem,” Rustam told Tempo Monday, June 29.
Official cars are prohibited to be taken to other regions in Sumatera, let alone to Jakarta.
According to Rustam, the risk of taking official cars outside of Bangka Island is considerably high as the journey could damage the car.
It is also unfair that official cars are used for personal gains, said Rustam.
The Bangka Belitung administration will monitor outgoing official vehicles to other regions in seaports which directly links with neighboring provinces. “Hopefully this will be obeyed by officials who recieved official vehicles. They will be held responsible if anything happens to the vehicle,” said Rustam.
