TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Non-profit cultural organization run by Kompas-Gramedia, Bentara Budaya Bali (BBB) in Ketewel, Gianyar Regency, screened documentary films about environment on June 26 to 27, in an event named Film Cerita dan Dokumenter (Feature and Documentary Films).
“The event that screens tens of films is held in collaboration with German Culture Center Goethe Institut Indonesien, Alliance Francaise Bali, and Northern Cultural Expression Society-Canada,” said event coordinator Vanessa Martida in Denpasar on Thursday, as quoted by Antaranews.
According to Vanessa, the screened films are documentary and fiction films that have won international awards such as ‘Home’ (Ursula Meier), ‘Dugout Canoe’ (Northern Cultural Expression Society), ‘Recipes for Disaster’ (John Webster), and ‘The Big Sellout’ (Florian Optiz).
The two-day event is an attempt of technology transfer from the creators to the audiences, and to raise society’s awareness and care towards environment.
A discussion was also held on Saturday, that talked about efforts to preserve the environment through audio visual medium (film). Naniek Kohdrata, SP., MLA, a lecturer of Udayana University and an expert on architecture and spatial planning, became the speaker in the discussion.
