TEMPO.CO, Denpasar - A total of 2,000 Chinese tourists enjoyed a kind of water sport in the Serangan Island waters which is around ten kilometers away from the center of Denpasar, Bali province, a spokesman has said.

"Many of Chinese tourists played the water sport due to its beautiful location and privacy," Marketing Manager of Dive and Water Sport agency, Wayan Dana, said at the Melasti Beach on Thursday.

The Serangan Island is located in the south of Sanur beach, with an area of approximately 73 hectares which can be reached by land and sea, he said.

The Serangan Island is a breeding location for green turtle (known as Turtle Island), and those who want to visit the island could use a boat to Sanur, Suwung or from Tanjung Benoa.

According to Wayan Dana, the Serangan Island has a very unfortunate mangrove ecosystem, and now the local residents will plant new mangrove seedlings to preserve the nature.

Chinese visitors still dominates 80 percent of the foreign tourists coming who play the Water Sports compared to that of tourists from Japan, Australia and Europe.
