TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Industrial Minister Saleh Husin said that he wanted Apple Inc to follow in the footstep of Samsung Electronics to establish a factory in Indonesia.

"Samsung factory construction can be a good example for other cellphone producers. We hope Apple and other brands also build a factory here," said Husein on Tuesday, June 16, 2015.

Husein said that the establishment of cellphone factories is connected with the inclusion of electronic industry in the group of industries with high growth.

Husein added that local industrial content (TKDN) for cellphones also needs to be monitored because all cellphone brands must have a factory in Indonesia by 2017, with TKDN up to 30 percent.

"I will even meet with Apple representatives. One of the things that I would like to convey is that Indonesia should be turned into a production base, not just a market," the Minister said.
