TEMPO.CO, Surabaya - Hasto Kristiyanto, secretary general of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), confirmed that his party would nominate Tri “Risma” Rismaharini and Whisnu Sakti Buana to run in Surabaya mayoral election this year.

“If Risma and Whisnu are ready to register [as mayor and deputy mayor candidates], we will issue the recommendation letter,” Hasto told Journalists in Surabaya on Sunday, June 14, 2015.

According to Hasto, the recommendation letter serves as a legality requirement and will be issued near the candidates’ registration at the Surabaya branch of the General Elections Commission (KPU). The PDIP, Hasto said, is currently preparing the campaign team for the pair.

Hasto called on Risma and Whisnu to realize people-oriented leadership, if they were to be reelected as Surabaya mayor and deputy mayor. Hasto hopes that the candidates would prove their commitment to the people of Surabaya.

“Risma and Whisnu must be ready to realize the commitment,” he said.
