TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Coalition of Anti-Mining Mafia NGO in Kupang said that mining activities in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) and East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) have caused a total of Rp. 64.47 billion state losses.

"Based on the Coalition's calculation, there are potential state losses in Nusa Tenggara region in relation to land rent fee in reference to Government Regulation No. 9/2012 on Tariffs and Non-Tax Revenue," said Melkior Nahar, Manager of Friends of the Earth Indonesia in Kupang, as quoted by Antara on Thursday, June 4, 2015.

The Coalition's calculation revealed that starting from 2010 to 2013 the country has suffered Rp. 64.47 billion of losses, with Rp 43.07 billion occurred in NTT while the other Rp 21.4 billion occurred in NTB.

In response to the findings, the Coalition has made 11 recommendations to the government, including stopping mining activities in conservation forests and protected forests, and urging the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to investigate possible corruption in the issuance of mining licenses in conservation and protected areas.
