TEMPO.CO , Persela - A number of Persela Lamongan players are to join smaller rural league during national league hiatus. Persela Lamongan management claimed that the players joing the league have reported to the coach. They mentioned that the two main reasons are to maintain stamina and gain income.
“They need to make a living,” said assistant to coach Didik Ludianto.
However, management warns the player to maintain physical condition, staying away from injury. "We hope that they do not catch injury,” he said, while referring that smaller league tends to have harsher play.
In Persela Lamongan itself, out of 24 players, only goalkeeper Khoirul Huda that has a day job. Other players are purely professional footballers and they rely their living on soccer.
