Setawing Waterfall, New Tourist Destination in Menoreh Hill

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Residents of Jonggorangan, Yogyakarta, is opening Setawing Waterfall as new natural tourism destination. Here, tourists can witness the wonder of water falling from 50-meter height in the foot of Menoreh Hill.
“The waterfall has long been existing. It was covered by bushes. Then the teenagers uncovered it and visitors were coming,” said Muh Alim, a public figure in Jonggrangan village on Tuesday, May 19.
According to Alim, the access to the waterfall is easy but there roads are sometimes sloping upward and downward. From Girimulyo Subdistrict, traveler is only few minutes away from the spot. There are about 200-meter distance that have to be traveled by foot. It will be somekind of warming up before finally touching down the fresh water.
“We have yet to set retribution fee. Visitors are only ask to make voluntary donation into a box. The fund will then be used to develop the location. We are planning to make swimming pools,” said Alim.
Alim said that the number of visitors is currently high enough, especcially on Saturdays and Sundays and public holidays.
There is a cave underneath the waterfall.
“Visitors can get in, although it’s only few meters deep,” Alim added.
