Padang Holds Siti Nurbaya Festival

TEMPO.CO , Jakarta - The long-gone Selaju Sampan boat competition is revived again in the Siti Nurbaya Festival in Padang starting from May 21 to 30, 2015. As many as 64 teams of paddlers will compete to win cows and goats as the prize.
Siti Nurbaya Festival is being held annually at Siti Nurbaya Bridge and Pantai Padang. The fifth festival features wide variety of culinary attraction, competitions, and arts. The culinary attractions include competitions of ‘manggiliang lado’ (grinding chili peppers), ‘mangkua karamba’ (grating coconuts) for curry, ‘malamang’ (cooking lemang) and making areca nut juice.
Dance competitions and other minang traditional art attractions are also featured to enliven the festival.
