TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - At least five coal companies in Jambi province operating in Tebo Regency were forced to close down and stop their operation. The also did not extend their mining business permits.
These companies do exploration in an area covering 11,350 hectares.
"These companies stopped their operation because of the declining price of coal,” said Head of Mining Division of Tebo Regency Energy and Mineral Resources Agency, Hendiryanto.
For the record, the price is coal is now at Rp220,000 per tons, which is below the normal price in June 2014 that reached Rp950,000 per ton.
Hendriyanto also said that due to the declining global price of coal, coal production in Tebo Regency has also been stagnant.
