TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Former Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono tweeted on Tuesday, May 19, 2015, that Energy and Mineral Resources Sudirman Said had made a defamatory statement against him in relation to Pertamina Energy Trading Limited (Petral). Yudhoyono also dismissed Sudirman’s allegations targeting him via his official twitter account @SBYudhoyono.
“I was shocked by Minister Sudirman’s statement that attacked and discredited me when I served as president,” SBY tweeted.
Earlier, Sudirman said that as quoted by a national media outlet that efforts t eradicate oil and gas mafias had often been stopped at Yudhoyono's desk.
Yudhoyono explained that eradicating mafias in all sectors, including in the oil and gas sector, had been his priority.
“I even founded the Anti-law Mafia Task Force to eradicate any kinds of aberration and crime,” Susilo added.
He also asserted that he had never received requests to disband Petral.
“Nobody had suggested disbanding Petral. I repeat, nobody. If someone had suggested it I would have seriously considered it,” Susilo explained.
Yudhoyono had even clarified the matter with former Vice President Boediono and five related ministries during his terms of office. In relation to Sudirman’s statement, Susilo said he was still waiting for clarifications from related individuals.
"I see the publication as a slander and defamation. I’m still waiting for clarifications from those who disseminate it,” Susilo tweeted, asking for the Indonesian people to support him in facing the issue.
