TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Adj. Sr. Comr. Audie Latuheru, the chief of the West Jakarta Police’s detective department, said the police would summon yet another suspect on Monday, May 11, 2015 in relation to the recent arrest of one Robby Abbas, 32, a suspected pimp of high-class prostitutes.
“We will summon a woman included in the 200-member Blackberry Messenger Group [from the Blackberry cellphone seized from Robby),” he said on Sunday, adding that the summons would be sent on Monday.
“I cannot reveal her identity, but she is in the group,” he said. Audie explained the police would use Article 296 of the Criminal Code on pimping, thus the prostitutes status’ was a victim.
“The Criminal Code doesn’t go against trafficked women, instead they are victims. So their status is a witness,” he said.
The police apprehended Robby at a luxury hotel in South Jakarta on Friday while the latter was transacting a woman with an undercover policeman. The police also arrested a woman identified by her initials only as A.A. and a Blackberry cellphone.
