TEMPO.CO, Kuala Lumpur - Indonesia booked a total of Rp1.6 trillion in transactions during the Experience Remarkable Indonesia (ERI) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, held in April 27-May 3, 2015. The Trade Ministry said Indonesian products remained appealing to the neighboring country despite the lingering economic slowdown.

“According to the data from the Department of Statistics, the consumer goods market here is promising,” said Indonesian Trade Attaché to Malaysia, Fajarini Puntodewi on Tuesday, May 5, 2015.

Malaysia has thus far seen an annual 15.21 percent increase in imports from Indonesia, which among them included foods, beverages, clothes and cosmetics, while its global imports grew at an average of 8.1 percent per year.

Fajarini said she would continue stepping up the exports of Indonesian consumer goods and strive for a bigger market share in Malaysia. In 2014, Indonesian consumer goods’ market share in Malaysia reached 10.20 percent with exports reaching US$1.02 million.

The 2015 ERI showcased an array of products, including foods and beverages, fashion products—such as Muslim clothing, batik and bags; Muslim prayer clothing—raincoats, cosmetics, spa equipment and handicrafts.

A string of Indonesian companies took part in the event, including Garuda Indonesia Airways, Kara, Kapal Api, Teh Sosro, Indomie, Supermie, Mie Sedaap, Hemaviton, Dian Pelangi, Mustika Ratu, Natasha care center and Sari Ayu.
