TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia Tbk (Telkom) will begin developing a 345 kilometer-long Luwuk Tutuyan Cable System (LTCS) fiber optic cable network that connects the East and North Sulawesi. This infrastructure development is scheduled to be completed in June 2015.

Network IT and Solution Telkom Director Abdus Somad Arief said the development of LTGS network is a part of Indonesia Digital Network and that it will later be installed under seas.

“We want to connect Indonesia with fiber optic cable network,” Abdus tol Tempo on Sunday, May 3. It was addressed after accompanying Communications and Informatics Minister Rudiantara to visit the LTCS project in Makassar.

Abdus expects that communication network will go smoother and could assist society in conducting fast communications.

Telkom has build 76,700km of fiber optic cable network infrastructure from Aceh to Papua. The specific Sulawesi Maluku Papua Cable System (SMPCS) network is planned to be inaugurated in early May. “From there, the Triple Play IndiHome service can directly be held in the eastern areas of Indonesia,” said Abdus.

The development is expected to give positive impact for equal communications and broadband information access with the same quality, so that digital-based economy can be conducted by societies in the whole region of Indonesia.
