TEMPO.CO, Kupang – The Democrat Party East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) chapter has threatened to dismiss its members who balk at supporting Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) as the party’s chair in the upcoming Democrat’s third congress in Shangri-La Hotel in Surabaya, East Java on May 12, 2015.

“Those who don’t support [Yudhoyono] will bear the risk: dismissal,” the party’s NTT chapter’s secretary Jonathan Kana told Tempo on Tuesday, April 28, 2015.

According to him, the party’s regional executive boards and their lower branches had agreed to throw their weight behind the former president in the election for the party’s next top man.

“There is no bargaining. The NTT chapter is for SBY, non-negotiable,” he said.

Jonathan, however, admitted that some of the party’s cadres had declared their readiness to vie for the position. “If there are other candidates, they are just unsatisfied,” he said, adding that the NTT chapter would never back these other candidates.

“We guarantee, NTT is totally for SBY,” he said.
