Gayo Coffee Festival Set to Roll

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Fans of Gayo coffee are invited to visit Gayo Coffee Festival which will be held starting from April 22 to 23 at Simpang Tiga Sport and Art Building (GORS) in Bener Meriah Regency, Aceh Province. The event is held by an NGO Save the Children in collaboration with the government of Bener Meriah Regency.
“In addition to Bener Meriah, there will be two neighboring regencies of Gayo highlands, Central Aceh and Gayo Lues,” said Imran Ali, a member of the festival’s event organizer to the press on Friday, March 17.
Various activities are scheduled in the festival under the theme of “Kopi Gayo Terunik Di Indonesia Kini Milik Dunia” which is literary translated as “Indonesia’s Most Unique Gayo Coffee Now Belongs to the World”.
Arabica coffee contest, coffee farm visit, and mass coffee-drinking, scientific speech and screening of documentary film are among the attractive activities that will be held. The speech is said to be delivered by Dr. Ir Surip Mawardi SU from Jember Coffee and Cacao Research Center, East Java and Prof. Dr. Abubakar Karim MS, the Head of Bappeda of Aceh Province.
The documentary film set to be screened is entitled “The Portrait of Gayo Tribe in Paradise Land”.
