TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - To parse traffic congestion due to construction of Ciledug-Blok M Transjakarta Bus Flyover on Cileduk Raya Street, the South Jakarta Administration plans to apply a contra-flow system at rush hour.

"Indeed, the construction will cause congestion along Jalan Ciledug Raya. Hence, the contra-flow will be applied at some points, including Ciledug Raya," said Head of South Jakarta Transportation Sub-Department, Priyanto, as quoted by Antara News.

According to Priyanto, contra-flow system is the most feasible solution. Moreover, the vehicle volume passing on the road is not proportional to the ratio of the road.

"In morning, the system will be applied from Ciledug to Jalan Kapten Tendean because traffic flow is dense from Ciledug. And in afternoon, it will be done in the reverse direction," he said.

He continued it is effectively able to be applied during physical construction. At this time, his side still focused on controlling vehicles that stop in forbidden places. "We do this to parse congestion," he exclaimed.

South Jakarta Mayor, Syamsuddin Noor uttered his side would meet some stakeholders to discuss congestion. "Thus far, we're only able to crack down on street vendors and public transport that often stop carelessly. Congestion is inevitable, but we do not want road users get stuck in it for a long time," he stated.
