Ahok Checks Preparations of Safetipin App Launch

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama and his deputy Djarot Saiful Hidayat are scheduled to preside over a meeting at the City Hall’s Main Executive Meeting Room on Monday morning, March 2, 2015.


In the afternoon, the governor will meet with representatives of the UN Women Indonesia chapter at the City Hall’s to check the preparations for the planned launch of the Safetipin app and the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection Ministry.


Ahok has previously explained the UN Women develops the Safetipin, which is made in India, to help women report harassment or any situation they feel endangering them in their environments.


In the future, Ahok said, the app would be used by not only women, but also anyone who would like to share other information, such as damaged roads, fires, or piles of garbage to the Jakarta administration.


On Monday afternoon, Ahok is slated to meet with the management of the Jakarta Library Council to discuss the progress of libraries in the capital and listen to the management’s recommendations.


Djarot, meanwhile, is scheduled to attend a Cap Go Meh event and musical performance titled “Building Indonesia Together” at Hall D of the JIExpo in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta with regional secretary Saefullah.
