TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Trade Ministry has allocated Rp 6 billion to revitalize the infrastructure of the Tomohon Beriman Market in North Sulawesi, said the Executive Director for Regional Markets Eddy Turang.
"The Ministry's aid will be administered through Tomohon's Trade and Commerce Agency, and will be used to build an additional storey to expand the market," said Turang in Tomohon on Sunday, February 22, 2015.
Turang added that the expansion work will begin as soon as the budget allocation criteria is cleared by the Ministry of Trade.
"There will be a tender process for the expansion work. Hopefully the tender could be finished as soon as possible so the actual physical work could commence, especially since there are no problems with land acquisition," said Turang, who added that the works will include the construction of an additional block of 15 stalls, whose construction and budgeting will be coordinated with third-party contractors.
"Some sections of the market will be rehabilitated. The construction work - which will not be using the State Budget [APBN] and/or Regional Budget [APBD] - will connect the building with the existing wet market," said Turang.
According to Turang, the expansion and rehabilitation of the market will improve the current standard of the market, which will improve both the customers' and stall owners' convenience, which will encourage stall owners to pay their leases in accordance to their contracts.
