TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Financial Services Authority (OJK) said the insurance claims payment for the AirAsia QZ8501 crash victims are being prepared by PT Asuransi Jasa Indonesia (Jasindo), one of the budget airline's insurance partners. PT Indonesia AirAsia also cooperates with PT Sinar Mas and Allianz Global.

Jasindo executive director Albertus Patarru said the claim payment process has been delegated to the OJK and the company's legal representatives, to ensure there are no errors in appointing the heirs of the victim.

Transportation Minister Regulation on Air Transport Carriers' Responsibilities stated that passengers who die or suffer permanent disabilities due to accidents while on board an aircraft are entitled to a maximum insurance of Rp1.25 billion.

OJK director for non-bank financial industry Firdaus Djaelani said that about 10 families of the crash victims had requested an insurance down payment of Rp300 million.
