TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) chief Air Vice Marshal FH Bambang Sulistyo said recovery teams had found a part of the black boxes in the tail section of AirAsia’s QZ8501.
“[A part of the black boxes] was found in the morning at 07:11,” Bambang said on Monday, January 12, 2015.
According to Bambang, the part of the black boxes was found by Navy divers, yet not all parts had been discovered.
“We found the flight data recorder,” Bambang added.
The finding has been transfered to the National Committee for Transportation Safety (KNKT) in Pangkalan Bun, Central Kalimantan.
On the 16th day of the search, Baruna Jaya ship and Indonesian warship KRI Banda Aceh helped the Indonesian Navy track down the remaining wreckage of the crashed airplane. The Indonesian Air Force also provided Basarnas with aircraft to locate the plane from the air.
