TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Jakarta Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama has decided to use rented cars for the capital's officials, saying it would be more efficient than procuring new ones.
“We decided not to buy official cars anymore. So, we want all cars for officials to be rented from a company that wins a tender,” Ahok said as reported by Antara on Thursday, November 27, 2014.
Ahok added that the Jakarta administration would provide compensation for officials who use their own private vehicles or take public transportations. The amount of the compensation, in the form of transport allowance, would be adjusted to their positions or classes.
The Jakarta administration is planning to auction off a number of official cars next year and would not replace them with new ones.
Earlier, Jakarta Asset Management Body head Reza Pahlevi explained some 300 cars for Jakarta echelon officials were prepared for an auction by the State Wealth and Auction Services.
