TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Students protested on the increase of subsidized fuel price had occurred again on Wednesday in Jakarta. The protest was conducted by several UKI (Indonesian Christian University) students in the area of Cawang, East Jakarta.
According to Tempo’s observation, around 200 students were spotted at the scene, covering roads from Cililitan to Tanjung Priok. The protest caused traffic jam in the area.
Students burned car tires on the side of the road in front of the campus. Molotov bombs and rocks were thrown by students towards the police’s barricade. Police authorities were forced to throw tear gases to overcome protesters.
