TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Maluku Governor Said Assagaff said on Saturday, November 8, 2014, that a number of investors had stated their willingness to contribute 10 percent of participation interest to manage Masela Block’s natural gas.

However, the central government has yet realized Maluku’s right on the 10 percent PI.

“Not all investors are given the opportunity to contribute to the PI, so that they must be selected,” Said explained as quoted by Antara News.

According to Said, the 10 percent PI shares need Rp40 trillion (US$3.3 billion) to manage from the Masela Block management handled by contractors of cooperation contract for oil and gas, INPEX Masela Ltd.

Inpex Corporation found about 14 trillion cubic feet (TCF) natural gas reserve in Masela Block. Therefore, Inpex Corporation has entered a commercial stage as an operator in Masela Block.
