TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Joko Widodo and Jusuf Kalla have been officially sworn-in as the President and Vice President of Indonesia for the period of 2014-2019. The inauguration ceremony began with the oaths by President Joko Widodo and Vice President Jusuf Kalla, which was followed by the signing of the minutes of the procession, as well as Joko Widodo's maiden speech as President.
The proceedings was witnessed by the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) - chaired by MPR Chairman Zulkifli Hasan.
Hordes of supporters cheered in joy as president-elect Joko Widodo was sworn in as the 7th President of Indonesia. The joyous atmosphere can be see during at a public screening of the inauguration procession - which was broadcasted live from the Parliament (DPR/MPR) Complex.
"It's official!" screamed the supporters when Joko Widodo signed the minutes of the inauguration proceedings on Monday, October 20, 2014. Even more cheers were heard when President Joko Widodo stood aside Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono in the proceedings.
The public screening was held at Nusantara III building, where two giant screens are set up for the benefit of those who has no access to the event. A number of smaller screens are also set up - spread across several points across the DPR/MPR Complex.
