TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Minister of State Owned Enterprises Dahlan Iskan is planning to maximize the use of liquefied natural gas (LNG) for power plants in Bali. In order to support this measure, an LNG receiving terminal is currently being developed in Tanjung Benoa, Bali.

"The construction will be divided in two stages. Completion would take around two years," said Dahlan on Thursday, September 25, 2014.

Dahlan said that the LNG receiving terminal will be utilized as an energy source by Indonesia Power, a subsidiary of the State-Owned Electricity Company (PLN), and will be used to supply power plants in Bali.

The project will be carried out through a joint operation scheme between Pertamina, PLN, and state-owned port management company Pelindo III. The synergy between the three state-owned companies is meant to minimize the use of fuel. The land reservoir terminal will be built on top of Pelindo's land, but will be fully funded by Pertamina.
