TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Public Works Minister Djoko Kirmanto said two Trans-Sumatra Toll Road projects would be launched this November. The new toll roads are Palembang-Indralaya and Medan-Binjai.
“The launching will coincide with the groundbreaking of Medan-Kualanamu-Tebingtinggi Toll Road project,” said Djoko on Friday.
Djoko said the two turnpikes would still be launched in November albeit the land acquisition had not been completed yet. He added this was because some of the lands were owned by state-owned companies and that the land acquisition would soon be completed.
State-owned contractor PT Hutama Karya has been appointed to construct the two toll roads as there were no other companies interested in the project in the previous auction held by the government.
The decision was made after outgoing President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono discussed the Trans-Sumatra Toll Road project in a limited cabinet meeting on Thursday, September 11, 2014.
