TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Museum of Records (MURI) awarded the General Election Commission as an election organizer with the largest number of voters in the world.
MURI Chairman Jaya Suprana said on Friday, August 22, 2014, that KPU’s achievement was a masterpiece and it was acknowledged by United States consulate to Indonesia in Surabaya. Jaya said the total number of participants in the election reached 133 million, which was about two million higher than the number of voters in the United States.
KPU Chief Husni Kamil Malik said the award was not the first for the KPU. MURI had awarded the KPU for its transparency reflected by C1 forms upload on KPU’s website. The KPU was even awarded with a title of Guardian of Democracy by Sugeng Sarijadi School.
Jaya said the award from MURI would be officially presented on September 19-20 during the Indonesian International Philosophy Symposium hosted by the Education and Culture Ministry. At the symposium, Husni would also give a short lecture about election philosophy.
“The materials will be made into a book and it will be exhibited at Frankfurt Book Fair 2015,” Jaya said.
