TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - National Police chief General Sutarman said the government was against any kind of Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham’s activitiy and ideology in Indonesia. According to Sutarman, the group has been advocating nothing but violence.
“The government is refusing ISIS activities and ideology because they promote violence,” Sutarman said on Thursday, August 14, 2014, after inaugurating the new Papua Police chief at the National Police headquarters.
Sutarman called on the people to be smart and balk at supporting the group, which later dubbed itself Islamic State (IS).
Sutarman said he had instructed policemen across the natio to cut the group's logistic supplies to keep it from growing. He added ISIS had been financing their movement through robberies and other criminal acts.
Sutarman said the law enforcement was the last stand to address ISIS issues.
“We have to [enforce the law] to keep the country away from any form of violence,” Sutarman added.
