TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Three days after the announcement of the regulation that prohibits selling subsidized fuel at gas stations on toll roads' rest areas, many drivers claimed they were not aware of it and generally protested to workers at the stations.

Fery, a worker at a gas station on Tangerang-Merak Km 43 toll road, claimed many people are still complaining. “There are still many people grumbling. They said, how come you didn't tell us,” he told Tempo, Saturday, August 9.

The same thing was uttered by Dian, another worker. There were various complaints, from lack of information until blaming the government. “There were some people blaming Mr. Jokowi. Then I said, it is still the Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono governance, Jokowi has not been inaugurated yet,” he explained.

Roby Nuralamsyah, the gas station's managing staff, said the promotion of the prohibition to sell subsidized fuel has not been carried out, from placing announcement boards, pasting pamphlets on fuel filling machines, using banners, and directly informing people know.

Starting from August 6, the Downstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Agency (BPH Migas) prohibits gas stations at rest areas on toll roads to sell subsidized fuel. The regulation is to curb usage volume of subsidized fuel that continues to swell up.
