TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Counter-terrorism issue observer Harits Abu Ulya said support for the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) from the people of Indonesia is a domestic security threat.
According to Harits, ISIS supporters have two options only: Move to the Middle East to help ISIS or change Indonesia to a Caliphate state.
These ISIS supporters have sworn allegiance to ISIS leader Abu Bakr al Baghdadi. The vow makes them as though they are no longer the people of Indonesia, but the people of ISIS.
A video of Indonesian citizens previously appeared on YouTube, showing their call to join ISIS in order to establish an Islamic Shari'a state.
Harits said the Detachment 88 or the National Counter-terrorism Agency should be able to declare that action as terrorism, especially because ISIS is affiliated to Al-Qaeda.
