TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Starbucks Indonesia said that the increase of prices of coffee in their shops has occured since last May. The increase is claimed as a periodic business strategy performed by Starbucks.
"Starbucks will continue to evaluate the pricing strategy for products in every market periodically to give customers the best products and service," Marketing Communication & CSR Manager of Starbucks Indonesia Yuti Resani, told Tempo on Wednesday, June 25 2014.
Yuti said that although the prices for several types of coffee is increasing, the prices of other types of coffee decreases. The increase of Starbucks coffee prices in the United States are also applied for certain beverages only.
Last week, Reuters reported that Starbucks in the US has increased the price of their coffee as much as US$1 due to the decreasing number of coffee production in Brazil. The increase of coffee prices in the US is predicted to reach its peak in mid-July 2014.
