TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Pakistan's air force launched air strikes against terrorist hideouts in Tirah, northern part of Khyber, resulting in at least 15 people killed in the action.

The Pakistani military said in a statement released on Tuesday, June 10, 2014, "nine terrorist hideouts were destroyed by early morning military air strikes near the Pakistan-Afghan border," as reported by Al Jazeera.

The military added that the airstrikes were launched a day after a number of gunmen attacked Karachi International Airport killing at least 36 people.

In the attack, Tehreek-el-Taliban (TTP) disguised as security forces and stormed the busiest airport in Pakistan on Monday, June 9, 2014, using rifles and explosives.

TTP spokesperson said such attacks was related to Taliban member’s capture and Pakistani air force attacks to north Waziristan and drone attacks killing one of Taliban’s highest commander Hakimullah Mehsud last year.
