TEMPO.CO, Roma - Giuseppe Rossi has been excluded from the Italian international football squad for the 2014 World Cup. Rossi was replaced by Parma striker Antonio Cassano. Rossi's failure to score a goal during a match against Ireland on Saturday, May 31, 2014, leaves a bad impression for Italian squad coach Cesare Prandelli.

The American-Born player performed well last season and collected 16 goals in the Italian Serie A. But a long-term knee injury has limited his opportunities to play in the starting eleven.

Cassano on the other hand, manages to display superb performance as Parma finished in sixth position in the Italian Serie A.

Other than Rossi, Riccardo Montolivo will also miss the 2014 World Cup after he suffers a leg injury during the match against Ireland, and will be replaced by Alberto Aquilani.
