TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Govenor Joko Widodo, better known as Jokowi, said that he would be careful in deciding whether to continue the development of the Jakarta monorail project.

"I have to be careful in taking a decision with regard to the resumption of the Jakarta monorail project. I do not want a problem to arise after the agreement between the two sides has been signed," Jokowi said at City Hall on Friday.

Jokowi, who is now a presidential candidate, said he had no objection to the agreement not yet being signed after he had officially set side his duties as the Jakarta governor.

"There is no problem if no signature is signed. After all, the project has been idle for a long time. We are trying to do our best so that it could be resumed, but this time we should be careful so that its construction would not be delayed again," the Jakarta governor said.

He explained the reason the agreement had not yet been signed, noting that PT Jakarta Monorel has not yet answered a number of questions raised about the project.

"The questions about depots, and profits or losses, are all not yet answered. That is why I do not want to make a decision in a hurry," Jokowi added.
